Nigeria: Man arrested in India for alleged drug trafficking

A 37-year-old Nigerian man, Jacob Nnabuike Ugwu, has been arrested in India for his alleged involvement in the inter-state trafficking of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) across the country. Ugwu, who claimed to be a hotel cook when he entered India a year ago, was reportedly running a refreshment shop in Delhi’s Krishnapuri area as a front for his alleged illicit activities ¹.
Accused’s Background believed to be the central figure in a broader drug distribution network stretching across several Indian states.
Drugs Seized36 grams of MDMA were seized from two Indian nationals, Hariom Jha and Lakshya Singh Rajput, who were apprehended near the MR10 Bridge in Indore.
Investigation The accused confessed to residing in Delhi for the past 2-3 years, running a refreshment shop, and supplying MD drugs through other members of his gang for the past year.
Charges. The trio has been booked under Crime Number 81/25, invoking Sections 8 and 22 of the NDPS Act, with Ugwu now under police remand for further investigation into his network and accomplices.
