Nigeria: 18-year-old woman arrested for killing husband in Kano

An 18-year-old woman named Saudat Jibril has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly killing her 30-year-old husband, Salisu Idris. The incident occurred on May 6, 2025, around 12:35 a.m. in Farawa Quarters, Kano. According to the police, Jibril slit her husband’s throat with a sharp knife, and he was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Method of Attack Jibril allegedly used a sharp knife to slit her husband’s throat.
Victim’s Status Salisu Idris was pronounced dead at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
Investigation The police have apprehended Jibril, and she is currently in custody at the State’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section. The police assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure justice is served.
Jibril has been arrested and is facing charges of culpable homicide.
The police spokesman, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect would be charged in court upon conclusion of preliminary inquiries.
Commissioner’s Assurance Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, reiterated that criminal acts would not be tolerated in the state and assured that justice would be served.
