The Rivers State Police Command has arrested four suspects, including a native doctor and a teenage girl, in connection with the ritual killing of two underage sisters, Chizaram Onuche and Chidinma Onuche, in the Ogbodo Pipeline area of Rukpokwu, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
According to the police, the prime suspect, 27-year-old Aniekan Sunday Uko, lured the victims to an uncompleted building, where he drugged them using a sedative-laced drink called “Black Bullet.” He then slaughtered the sisters and collected their blood in a bottle.
The police stated that Aniekan confessed to the crime, revealing that he became involved in ritual killings after visiting a native doctor, who instructed him to provide fresh human remains and blood for ritualistic purposes.
The other suspects arrested in connection with the crime are Luis John Uwelemele, 19, a native of Cross River State and girlfriend of the prime suspect; Kingsley Opurum, 43, a native doctor from Etche, Rivers State; and Friday Silas, 47, a native of Plateau State.
The police recovered several exhibits from the scene of the crime, including a kitchen knife identified as the murder weapon, a bottle filled with the victims’ blood, an empty can of “Black Bullet,” and a spoon used to collect the blood.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, assured the public that justice would be served and all perpetrators of the heinous crime would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details and possible accomplices.
A lawyer, Linda Ojims, who is assisting the police in the investigation, commended the police for the arrest of the suspects and urged for a thorough prosecution of the matter to ensure justice for the deceased.
