JD VANCE: HEARTLESS, CLUELESS, AND – THANKFULLY – MOSTLY POWERLESS

When the Founders decided to not give the Vice President any real authority beyond being the president of the Senate and only having a vote on bills in case of a tie, they must have foreseen someone like JD Vance.
Oh, the young fella certainly craves power and the attention that comes with it. But he is running a distant third behind Donald Trump and Elom Musk. They send him around to bleat the MAGA company line, which he seems to have completely swallowed himself. Yes, at one time he was vehemently opposed to Trump, but a cushy tech job in California and then a Trump-backed successful Senate run in Ohio changed all that and brought him onboard. Now we are seeing his true colors. They’re not pretty.
Even after the issue was investigated and declared without merit, Vance kept pushing the racist attack on the legal Haitian refugees in Springfield, Ohio. “Just because we couldn’t actually see them stealing and eating people’s cats and dogs didn’t mean they weren’t doing it”, he stoutly maintained. Sure, JD.
Most VPs are sent to state funerals and other events that the POTUS either can’t or doesn’t want to attend for a variety of reasons. Most VPs shake hands, smile for photos and do their best to build and keep goodwill around the globe. Vance, not so much. He has insulted the UK and our other European allies, insinuating that they wouldn’t even know how to fight a war if it came to that. Apparently, no one told him that our NATO allies fought and died with our own soldiers in the Gulf Wars.
And then we have the debacle in the Oval Office, when Vance joined Trump in the playground bullying of an embattled world leader trying his damnedest to ensure the survival of his nation. Vance intimated that Zelenskyy wasn’t grateful enough for American help in Ukraine’s fight to keep from being subsumed by Putin’s Russia. Actually, Zelenskyy had thanked the US dozens of times for our assistance. What Vance and Trump didn’t seem to understand was that abject, continuous repetitions of “Thank you” were not necessary. The US had signed agreements in 1992 guaranteeing Ukrainian security and territorial integrity in exchange for Ukraine giving up its vast nuclear arsenal. All we had done was keep our word. That shouldn’t require ass-kissing on the level that Trump and Vance were demanding.
JD Vance is not a particularly nice guy. In his bestselling book Hillbilly Elegy, he slammed a culture and society that he actually knew very little about and patted himself on the back for “getting away”. Ever since he entered politics, he has shown nothing in the way of sympathy or empathy for those less fortunate than he. He has instead toed the MAGA line of racism, misogyny, and xenophobia.
And he is not proving to be as smart as his educational credits would indicate. He seems to think that he is now the natural heir to Donald Trump. Sorry, JD. What you and others such as Ron DeSantis and Marjorie Taylor Greene don’t get is that there is no heir to Trump. Yer, he rose to power by saying the things that some people wanted to hear. But that has morphed into a cult of personality. Instead of Trump following the crowd and saying what they wanted him to say, now they are following him and wanting what he says they should want. Bigly difference. Bigly shoes to fill, with or without the lifts.
Vice President JD Vance wants to move from eyeliner to headliner. He has a lot of ground to cover for that to ever happen.
