Opportunity Gambia donates furniture, stationeries to Jabang LBS

Opportunity Gambia, Gambian-Germany based charity recently presented 22 tables with seats and bags containing stationeries to Jabang Lower Basic School in Kombo North District, West Coast Region.
Opportunity Gambia is a Gambian charity based in Germany. It often supports the needy in the area of education, health and other social developments.
The donated items include 22 tables with benches and ten bags containing pens, exercise books, set box and others.
It aimed to improve the well-being of the school and students.
In his presentation, Kebba Sowe, Germany coordinator for Opportunity Gambia said the donation is geared toward supporting the school with learning materials.
“We made our finding and realized that Jabang Lower Basic School is big and lacked sufficient furniture. So, we deemed it fitting to provide the school with tables and benches,” he said.
He said the organization has provided the school with 22 tables and that the tables will cover 44 children which is a full classroom.
Sowe urged the school management to make best use of the furniture to ensure sustainability.
He commended Opportunity Gambia partners such as Diakovere and Scout of Kombo North for their support.
He assured that the charity will continue supporting the needy and public institutions to enhance social development.
Omar Jarju, local coordinator for Opportunity Gambia who doubles as scout volunteer said the two institutions are looking forward to immensely contributing to societal development.
“Our objective is to support the education sector by bringing educational initiatives both in the formal and informal. We are also helping in the area of health, women and children and other social development,” he said.
Jarju further said that the organization have a package of ten bags containing stationeries. These, stationeries, he said would be given to ten students from poor backgrounds.
Jarju commended Kebba Sowe and the entire Sowe Family for the good work, while calling on Gambians in the diaspora to support needy Gambians at home.
He further called on philanthropists to work with the scout of Kombo North, saying anyone who sent them charitable items they will ensure it reach the right people.
Sona SM Jobarteh, head teacher of Jabang Lower Basic School commended the benefactors for their gesture. She said the donation would go a long way in helping the school and the children in particular.
“This furniture will serve the students and perhaps even their children in the future,” she said.
