Nigeria: Drug supplier, bandits among 10 arrested in NDLEA nationwide operations

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested at least ten individuals during recent anti-narcotic operations across various parts of Nigeria. Among those arrested is a 22-year-old man, Muhammad Mohammed, accused of supplying drugs to bandits. He was caught on April 13 along the Bichi-Kano Road with 277 ampoules of pentazocine injection hidden on his body.
On the same day, another suspect, 43-year-old Mohammed Abdulrahman Abdulaziz, was arrested in Nasarawa, Kano, with 68 blocks of skunk cannabis weighing 30 kilograms.
In Bayelsa State, officers raided a house on Isaiah Allison Street in Yenagoa and recovered 557.2kg of skunk, 5.6kg of methamphetamine, and 29.8 grams of heroin. Four suspects were apprehended during the raid.
In Lagos, NDLEA intercepted a delivery van carrying about 1,100kg of skunk. A driver was arrested in connection to the case. In Kaduna, a suspect named Ike Ani was caught with 31,950 pills of Tramadol and Diazepam.
Three other suspects were arrested in Kebbi State for concealing 97kg of skunk in sacks of charcoal. In Anambra, 48-year-old Okafor Marcel was found in possession of 11.5kg of skunk, while in Osun, a woman named Ajala Mercy was caught with 43 litres of “skushi,” a drug-laced drink.
Additionally, two cannabis farms were discovered and destroyed in Egbeta Forest, Edo State. The farms contained over 3,700kg of cannabis plants across nearly 1.5 hectares, with another 136.5kg already processed.
In Lagos’ Tincan seaport, a suspect who had been on the run for two years was arrested in relation to a 2023 seizure of 107kg of Loud cannabis imported from Canada. Another distributor operating in the seaport community was also apprehended.
Officers also intercepted 500 grams of cocaine hidden in religious books bound for Saudi Arabia. This took place at a courier company on April 15. On the same day, 2.8kg of Loud cannabis from the United States was found hidden in a package at another courier location.
