A civil rights group, The Critical Thinkers, has called for a forensic analysis of the phone records of everyone in close contact with late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, within 48 hours before his death.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Toby Bart, the group expressed concern over conflicting testimonies at the ongoing coroner’s inquest. Bart cited discrepancies between the statement of Dr. Chigozie Iwuala of Perez Medicare Hospital and Mohbad’s partner, Wunmi Adebanjo.

Dr. Iwuala claimed Mohbad was already dead on arrival at the hospital and that his body had been doused with water—possibly to reduce signs of death. He also noted the singer had been dead for over three hours before being brought in.

This sharply contrasts Wunmi’s statement during a televised interview where she said Mohbad died within 20 minutes of arriving at the hospital.

Only Dr. Iwuala and the driver who transported Mohbad to his last show in Ikorodu appeared at the latest inquest, despite expectations that both involved hospitals would testify.

The group emphasized that these inconsistencies raise serious questions about the time and cause of Mohbad’s death. They urged Curamed Hospital—where Mohbad was first taken—to testify at the next inquest scheduled for April 25, 2025.

They also insisted that even though the attending doctor is no longer with the hospital, the facility must present all available reports and CCTV footage related to Mohbad’s admission.
