Nigeria: 20-year-old allegedly kills father with machete in Jigawa

A 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, has allegedly stabbed his father, Salisu Abubakar, to death in Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sara District, Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The incident reportedly occurred around 10 a.m. when the suspect attacked his father with a machete, inflicting deep wounds on his shoulder, neck, and chest. The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kudu, where he was later confirmed dead.

Police officers from the Sara Division responded swiftly to the report, evacuated the victim, and took him to the hospital. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and the machete used in the attack was recovered.

The Commissioner of Police in the state has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation. Authorities say the motive behind the killing remains unknown, and a full investigation is underway.

The police assured the public that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded. They also encouraged anyone with information about the case to come forward.
