INTERPOL project AGWE V fact-finding mission begins in Gambia

The Gambia Police Force on Tuesday announced welcoming a delegation from INTERPOL as part of a week-long fact-finding mission under Project AGWE V, focused on maritime security and transnational crime prevention.

The team, comprising Farida Kaced, Borislav Gizdavkov and Ellison Soares Machado was received at Police Headquarters by CSP Sulayman Jawara on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.

The mission aims to explore collaboration opportunities with national stakeholders including NCB Banjul, the Crime Management Coordinator, Forensic Unit, Gambia Navy, Judiciary and Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG.)

“Key discussions will cover joint strategies to combat maritime crimes such as human trafficking, smuggling, piracy, and drug and arms trafficking. The visit reinforces The Gambia’s commitment to regional law enforcement cooperation and operational alignment with INTERPOL,” the statement concluded.
