This past Thursday, IAC-Norway intern Filippa attended Africa Day 2025 at the Embassy of Tunisia in Oslo.

The event was opened by Ambassador Amel Ben Younes (photo 1), who delivered a compelling speech celebrating Africa’s progress and emphasizing the importance of equitable partnerships, particularly with Norway, to promote sustainability, innovation, and youth development.

The second photo captures the ambassadors from various African embassies in Oslo who were present at the event.

Filippa had the opportunity to engage with representatives from the Embassy of Ghana to discuss IAC-Norway’s work in The Gambia, including ongoing efforts to combat harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), a human rights violation recognized by the WHO (photos 3 and 4).

Attendees enjoyed a rich variety of African cuisine: Ghanaian jollof rice and Moroccan bastilla were among the highlights. The evening also featured an energetic drum performance by the group Bajo, which brought the room together through rhyt.
