The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of three headless bodies floating in a river between Ore and Odigbo communities. The bodies were found on Sunday, and residents immediately alerted security agencies.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Alayande, the bodies were likely dumped in the river by unidentified individuals from outside the state or carried to the location by the river’s current. The police have evacuated the bodies and deposited them at the morgue of the state General Hospital, Ore.

A local youth leader, Shileola, described the situation as horrifying, saying, “I was shocked when I first heard about it over the phone. I rushed to the scene, hoping to identify the victims through their clothing or any other means, but all efforts proved abortive.” The community is in a state of panic, with many suspecting that the victims may have been killed for ritual purposes before being dumped in the river.

Efforts to Identify the Victims

The police have summoned community leaders and stakeholders to help identify the victims, but so far, no one has come forward with any information. The police are urging anyone with information about the bodies to visit the hospital and check if they can identify them.

The police believe that the bodies were brought from elsewhere and dumped in the river, as there have been no reports of missing persons in the community. The river may have carried the bodies to the location where they were found.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident, and the community is anxiously awaiting answers. The discovery of the headless bodies has raised concerns about the safety and security of the area, and residents are calling for more effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
