The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its investigation into the abduction of a 5-year-old girl, Memunah Abdulrahman, who was kidnapped by an unidentified man in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State. The police command has taken over the case and is working to track down the suspect and rescue the young girl.

According to reports, the girl was abducted on 2025, while she and her sister were returning from an Islamic school. The suspect approached the girls and led them into a store, where he pretended to buy them items before fleeing with Memunah, leaving her sister behind.

The family reported the incident to the Ejigbo Divisional Police Headquarters, and officers reviewed CCTV footage showing the suspect abducting the child and fleeing. The police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, Owohunwa Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.

The community secretary, Ojagbemi Takuro, speaking on behalf of the family, confirmed that police detectives from the SCID visited the community on Friday to conduct a preliminary investigation. The detectives visited the store where the abduction occurred, and the family followed them to the SCID.

The family has expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Police for taking over the case and has appealed to the public for help in rescuing their daughter. The missing girl’s father, Alimi, said the family has exhausted their finances in the search for their daughter without any success.

This incident is similar to another reported last Monday, where suspected kidnappers abducted a Lagos landlord’s daughter and another man on March 26, 2025, in the Ijede community of the state.

The police are working to track down the suspect and rescue the young girl, and the community is rallying behind the family to support their efforts. The case highlights the need for increased vigilance and security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
