Two people have reportedly been arrested in connection with the gun that allegedly led to the tragic killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi by a police officer in Effurun, Delta State.

According to reports, one of those arrested is believed to be the person who sent the Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, through a transport company to Effurun.

The suspects were reportedly brought to the Effurun Area Command on Wednesday night as investigations continue into the movement of the firearm and the circumstances surrounding Oghenemine’s death.

Sources said Oghenemine had allegedly picked up the package in Effurun to deliver it to the owner in Sapele before he was intercepted at the motor park, where he was later shot by ASP Nuhu Usman and others involved in the operation.

A source close to the investigation revealed that authorities are still trying to identify the role of the second suspect, who may possibly be the driver that transported the parcel from Yenagoa.

Police authorities have yet to officially comment on the arrests, but investigations are said to be ongoing as officers work to track down other individuals connected to the case.
