The Ondo State Security Network, also known as Amotekun, has revealed impressive statistics in its fight against crime in the state. Between January and March this year, the agency received over 500 distress calls and arrested no fewer than 750 crime suspects.

The state commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Wednesday while parading 31 suspects at the agency’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital. Adeleye attributed the success to joint operations with other security agencies in the state, known as Operation Daada.

According to Adeleye, the suspects were arrested for various offenses, including kidnapping, armed robbery, housebreaking, rape, cult-related cases, human trafficking, and fraud. Out of the total, 175 suspects have been arraigned in court, while others are undergoing investigation.

Adeleye highlighted some notable achievements of the agency, including averting a potential crisis between herders and farmers in the Owena Dam Association. He also mentioned the interception of two trucks conveying 114 persons without a fixed address, who were later sent back to their states of origin.

The commander thanked the public for their support, particularly in providing timely information that enabled the agency to act swiftly. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the agency and the public in maintaining security in the state.

Adeleye assured that the security situation in the state is under control, thanks to the efforts of Amotekun and other security agencies. He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the agency in its efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.
