Nigeria: Katsina police foil kidnap attempt, rescue four including infant

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued four victims, including an infant, in Mazare village, Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 18, 2025, when a group of suspected bandits attacked the village, shooting and injuring two persons.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the police received a report of the attack and quickly mobilized a team of operatives to the scene. A gun battle ensued, and the police successfully rescued all four kidnapped victims unharmed. The suspects fled the scene due to superior firepower.

The injured victims, Sa’idu Isa and Sa’idu Wa’alam, were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention and are receiving treatment. The police are working to arrest the suspects and investigate the incident.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, commended the efforts of the operatives and urged the public to continue supporting the police by reporting incidents or suspicious activities promptly.
