Nigeria: Jigawa police arrest 14, recovers fake currencies, firearms

The Jigawa State Police Command has announced a significant breakthrough in a joint security operation conducted on June 12, 2025. The operation, which targeted a criminal hideout in Digawa village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, resulted in the arrest of 14 suspects and the recovery of incriminating items.

– 12 pieces of fake USD
– 188 pieces of Central African Currency suspected to be fake

– Other criminal charms
The operation followed credible intelligence reports about a syndicate involved in fraudulent practices and other criminal acts within the region. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing thorough investigation, after which they will be arraigned in court.
The police spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, stated that the operation underscores the commitment to safeguarding communities and rooting out criminal elements. The command urges the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities promptly.
This development comes after a previous incident where fraudsters from Digawa village attacked Dumus village, resulting in one death and eight injuries. The police command is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
