Nigeria: Akpabio sues Natasha over satirical apology video

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a lawsuit against suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over a satirical apology video she posted on social media. The video, shared on April 27, was a mock apology for not allowing Akpabio to “have his way” with her, with Akpoti-Uduaghan expressing “sorry for the crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect” and rejecting the Senate President’s alleged advances.
Akpabio’s legal team argues that the post violates a court order issued on which barred both parties from making public statements regarding ongoing sexual harassment allegations.

The dispute between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan stems from an altercation in the Senate chamber over seating arrangements, leading to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension after accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment.
