Nigeria: 30-year-old man arrested for allegedly killing mother

A 30-year-old man, Hussaini Abubakar, has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his 75-year-old mother, Dahara Mu’azu, in the Dantanoma area of Gumel Local Government Area. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m., after police received a report of a violent domestic altercation between the mother and son.

Abubakar allegedly struck his mother with mud blocks, causing severe head injuries.

The victim was rushed to Gumel General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

 Abubakar has been taken into custody and is cooperating with investigators.

 Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Abdullahi, condemned the act as “inhuman, barbaric, and utterly reprehensible”.

The CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), to take over the case and ensure justice is served.

The police command urged the public to report early signs of mental health crises or domestic violence to prevent similar incidents.

Neighbors and community members have expressed shock and outrage over the incident, demanding justice for the victim and her family

Some have called for increased vigilance and community support to prevent such incidents in the future.

Abubakar will face charges in court once the investigation is complete. The police command remains committed to upholding law and order, protecting lives, and ensuring justice for victims of crime across Jigawa State.
