Gambia’s Jawo and Nyabally crowned Zone II champions

Bissau, Guinea-Bissau – Gambian beach volleyball stars Sainey Jawo and Laity Nyabally were crowned champions of the men’s competition at the Zone II Qualifying Tournament for the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating Cape Verde in straight sets, 2-0, in a commanding final performance.
The Gambian duo showcased exceptional teamwork, power, and consistency throughout the match, overwhelming their Cape Verdean opponents to secure the gold medal and reaffirm The Gambia’s growing dominance in beach volleyball within the Zone II region.
Having displayed impressive form throughout the tournament, Jawo and Nyabally saved their best performance for the final, controlling both sets with confident attacking play and solid defense to seal a memorable victory and confirm continental showdown in August/September.
