From Banjul to the Continent: Teams Chase CAVB Men’s Nations Cup Spots

Banjul, The Gambia, June 6, 2026 – The Gambia is set to become the center of West African volleyball as it hosts the Zone II Men’s Volleyball Qualifiers for the 2026 CAVB Men’s Nations Cup from 17 to 21 June 2026 at the Independence Stadium in Banjul.
Organized under the auspices of the Zone II Volleyball Association and the Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF), the tournament will bring together eight of the region’s strongest volleyball nations in a highly competitive battle for qualification to the continental championship.
The participating countries include The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone, and Mauritania. Over five days of action, teams will compete for regional supremacy and the opportunity to secure their place among Africa’s elite volleyball nations.
Hosting the event marks another significant milestone for Gambian volleyball and reflects the growing confidence in the country’s ability to organize international sporting competitions. The tournament is expected to attract volleyball enthusiasts, sports stakeholders, and supporters from across the region, creating a vibrant atmosphere both on and off the court.
