Dividing and Subtracting our People

By Madi Jobarteh
If this country fails, it is not because of a lack of enough sons and daughters with adequate and relevant knowledge. It is not because of lack of effort or initiative. It is absolutely not because of a lack of ideas and solutions.
Rather, it is clearly and squarely a lack of leadership, patriotism and moral values.
Here is our own erudite Prof. Gibril Faal at the national dialogue on February 16 providing a no-nonsense, scientific and clear set of solutions for not only about the need for diaspora involvement but more importantly about how leaders and public officials should manage public affairs and resources, and therefore how this very country should be governed and managed.
Unfortunately, 25 National Assembly Members and the President continue to hinder the diaspora hence hinder national development!
How can they hear such wonderful ideas and solutions just a month ago only to go back to the National Assembly to vote against diaspora voting thereby denying the involvement of Gambians abroad in the affairs of the Gambia?!
This is what the good professor said, ‘subtracting and dividing’ our people instead of ‘adding and multiplying’ our people.
