GNOC opens five-day Sports Administrators Course for National Associations

Banjul The Gambia, May 11, 2026 – The Gambia National Olympic Committee has officially opened a five-day Sports Administrators Course for National Sports Associations as part of its continued commitment to strengthening sports governance and capacity building in The Gambia.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Acting Director of the National Sports Council, Mahmoud Jawla, who delivered a statement highlighting the importance of effective sports administration in the development of national federations and athletes.
Also speaking at the ceremony was Commissioner Lamin King Colley, First Vice President of the GNOC, who reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to empowering sports administrators through education, leadership, and professional development.
The course is being directed by experienced facilitators Honorable Lamin Sanneh and Ousman Abou Wadda, who will guide participants through various topics related to sports management, governance, administration, and leadership during the five-day programme.
The initiative is expected to enhance the operational capacity of National Associations and contribute to the continued growth and professionalisation of sports administration in The Gambia.
In a separate development, The Gambia National Olympic Committee extended support to The Gambia Athletics Association (GAA) for the upcoming African Senior Athletics Championship scheduled to take place in Accra from May 12 to 17, 2026.
The support forms part of GNOC’s continued commitment towards Team Gambia’s preparations for the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
A total of six athletes and two officials have benefited from the support package as Team Gambia intensifies preparations.
GNOC reaffirmed its dedication to supporting National Sports Associations in their efforts to develop athletes and enhance The Gambia’s representation at international sporting events.
