A violent clash between rival cult groups in the Owode Ajegunle area of Lagos State resulted in the death of one individual identified as Sparkle.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday when a group known as the Buccaneers set out to avenge the killing of one of their members. During their mission, they encountered members of the Aiye cult group, leading to a heated altercation. Amid the confrontation, Sparkle was shot and died at the scene.

According to local accounts, tensions had been brewing after a Buccaneer cultist was previously ambushed and fatally shot while walking with his girlfriend. His death is believed to have triggered the retaliatory move that led to the latest violence.

Residents now fear further violence, as both the Buccaneers and the Aiye group are reportedly planning fresh attacks in response to the recent killings.

A police spokesperson stated that he was not yet aware of the incident. However, recent reports confirm that eight suspects were recently arrested in Lagos in connection with other cult-related killings in the state.
