Fear spread through the Idimu area of Lagos on Sunday after residents discovered two dead bodies along Oladun Road, with one of the victims found beheaded.

The victims were believed to have been killed late Saturday night, though their bodies were only found the next morning. Eyewitnesses said the corpses were found lying several meters apart, drawing crowds of shocked onlookers.

One of the deceased, identified as a local man known as Baba Oja, was well known in the community and often seen directing traffic and collecting tips near Council bus stop. The identity of the second victim was still unconfirmed at the time of reporting.

Residents, including Jamiu Raji, suggested the killings were likely the result of cult-related violence due to the brutal nature of the attacks. Despite the gravity of the incident, police reportedly arrived nearly 10 hours after the bodies were discovered.

There were also claims from locals that the victims’ families were allegedly asked to pay money before being allowed to retrieve the bodies.

Attempts to contact the Lagos State Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

Earlier this year, similar cult-related violence led to multiple deaths in Mushin and Abeokuta, involving rival groups such as the Aiye and Eiye confraternities.
