A quiet household in Magama Jibia, Katsina State, was thrown into mourning after a tragic incident of suspected food poisoning claimed the lives of three children and left one more fighting to survive.

The victims—Hussaina Ayuba, Ahmed Ayuba, and Nana Ayuba—were rushed to Jibia General Hospital after eating a meal of spaghetti. Despite the doctors’ efforts, all three children passed away while receiving treatment. A fourth child, 12-year-old Hafsat Ayuba, survived the ordeal and is currently recovering under close medical supervision.

According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the heartbreaking incident has shocked the local community, stirring both grief and concern.

In a swift response, local authorities arrested a 20-year-old woman, Fatima Abdulkadir, believed to have prepared the spaghetti, along with two other suspects. The motive behind the act remains unclear, but investigations are underway to uncover what truly happened.

Police visited the scene and have since released the bodies of the deceased to their family for burial according to Islamic rites.

As the Ayuba family mourns their devastating loss, the community is left searching for answers. The Katsina State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
