Nigeria: Three killed, three injured in early morning Ogun highway crash

Three people have lost their lives, while three others were injured in a tragic road accident along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway in Ogun State.

The crash happened around 5:00 a.m. near Babcock Junction in Ikenne Local Government Area. It involved a white Mercedes-Benz truck and a yellow crane.

According to preliminary findings, the crane was reportedly driving against traffic at high speed before colliding head-on with the oncoming truck.

Six people were involved in the accident, including three men and three women. Sadly, two men and one woman died from the impact, while the remaining three male victims sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. The injured victims were taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu.

Traffic along the highway was temporarily diverted to ease congestion as officials worked to clear the damaged vehicles from the road.

Authorities have urged motorists to obey traffic rules, avoid driving against traffic, and shun other dangerous driving practices that could lead to preventable tragedies.
