The Super Eagles have commenced training in Warsaw as they gear up for international friendlies against Poland and Portugal, following their triumph at the 2026 Unity Cup in London.

The Nigerian squad arrived in the Polish capital in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026. According to the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, 18 players had reported to camp as of filing time, with 16 taking part in the first training session on Monday evening. Terem Moffi was seen leading drills during the session.

Head coach Eric Chelle had earlier confirmed that star striker Victor Osimhen and forward Ademola Lookman would not join the squad. Chelle said Osimhen has been given time off to sort out his club future, while Atletico Madrid requested that Lookman be allowed to rest after a demanding season.

Despite the absence of the duo, Chelle has a blend of experienced hands and in-form players to test against two European sides.

The Super Eagles will face Poland on Wednesday, June 3, at a venue in Warsaw. They will then travel to Portugal for a second friendly against the hosts on Wednesday, June 10, in Leiria.

The matches serve as part of Nigeria’s preparations for upcoming World Cup qualifiers and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. After winning the 2026 Unity Cup in London, the team will be looking to build momentum against strong European opposition.
