The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and Florence Ajimobi, widow of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, have denied allegations that they induced the Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Seyi Makinde.
The denial follows claims that surfaced on Tuesday morning, placing Ogundoyin at the centre of an alleged plot. Members of the state House of Assembly issued individual statements distancing themselves from any purported discussions between the Speaker, the Olubadan, and Mrs Ajimobi.
A viral statement attributed to the Chief Whip of the Assembly, Gbenga Oyekola, claimed Ogundoyin was invited by both the Olubadan and Mrs Ajimobi. The statement alleged the Olubadan advised the Speaker on his governorship ambition and offered to secure a House of Representatives ticket for him under the APC, “along with the necessary funds to prosecute the election.”
Both the Olubadan and Mrs Ajimobi have dismissed the claims, stating they had no involvement in any plan to impeach Governor Makinde.
