Nigerian singer Mayorkun has shared the advice his elder brother gave him after he opened up about his difficulty finding the right woman to marry.

The singer, whose real name is Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, disclosed this during a recent appearance on the Uncut podcast, where he spoke about his search for a suitable life partner.

According to Mayorkun, his elder brother questioned his approach to meeting women and suggested that he might be looking for love in the wrong places.

He recalled telling his brother about his struggles before receiving an unexpected question about when he last approached a woman during the daytime.

“I told my big bro I have been struggling to find the right woman to marry, and he asked me a simple question: ‘When was the last time you spoke to a girl in broad daylight?’” the singer said.

Mayorkun explained that he understood the point behind his brother’s question, adding that he associates being responsible with avoiding late-night outings.

“You can’t be a responsible girl and still be outside by 1 a.m.,” he stated.

The Mayor of Lagos crooner also spoke about an experience with a woman he once invited on a date, which further shaped his views on finding a genuine partner.

He said the woman claimed she did not know him or his music. However, during their second date, one of his older songs played on the radio, and she unexpectedly sang along to the lyrics word for word.

The incident left him questioning the honesty of people he meets, particularly when their actions contradict what they say.

Mayorkun suggested that pretence and the pressure to maintain a particular image have made it increasingly difficult to identify someone with genuine intentions.

His comments highlight some of the challenges he has encountered while searching for a woman he considers suitable for marriage.

The singer’s experience also reflects his concerns about sincerity in relationships, as he continues to navigate the search for a compatible life partner.
