Nigeria: Gunmen abduct 2 LG workers, 3 others in Kwara

Gunmen have kidnapped senior officials of the Kwara State Local Government Service Commission along the Omu-Aran/Ilorin Road. The victims include Elizabeth Arinde, Head of the Legal Department of Oke-Ero Local Government, and the Head of Personnel Management of the council.
The abduction occurred on Friday evening, April 25, 2025, at about 5:45 pm, when five gunmen ambushed two private vehicles, forcing the passengers into the bush. A total of seven individuals were kidnapped, including Arinde and four others.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident and launched a swift operation, leading to the successful rescue of two victims, Ganiyu Ajayi and Kolawole Adeyemi. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining five victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The police have intensified security measures across the area, including aggressive bush combing, strategic patrols, and intelligence-driven operations to prevent further occurrences. Residents are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive by providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
This incident is the latest in a series of kidnappings in Kwara State, highlighting the need for increased security measures to protect citizens and visitors.
