Nigeria: Explosion near Abuja barracks causes panic, one injured

A blast was heard near the Abacha Barracks along the Nyanya-Maraba road in Abuja on , causing widespread panic among residents and passersby. According to eyewitnesses, the explosion resulted in one person sustaining injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:50 PM, prompting an immediate response from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit. The area was quickly cordoned off for clearance and analysis to ensure the safety of commuters and residents. One male victim was rescued from the scene and is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed the explosion and assured the public that there is no cause for alarm. A comprehensive investigation, including forensic analysis, has commenced to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.
