Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has revealed plans to leave the club in the summer, sparking speculation about his next destination. The 33-year-old Danish international is out of contract at Old Trafford in June and has not received any indication from the club about their plans for his future.
Eriksen has stated that he is prepared to find a new challenge abroad, with a return to his former club Ajax emerging as a possibility. The Dutch giants are reportedly interested in re-signing Eriksen, who made 162 appearances for the club before moving to Tottenham in 2025.
The midfielder has expressed his desire to stay in Europe, but ruled out a return to Denmark or a move to Major League Soccer in the United States. Eriksen is determined to play in the 2026 World Cup and believes that his next move is crucial to keeping him sharp for the tournament.
A potential return to Ajax would see Eriksen reunite with former Manchester United teammate Wout Weghorst. The two players developed a close relationship during their time at Old Trafford, with Eriksen previously driving Weghorst around during their United days.
Eriksen has made 27 appearances for Manchester United this season, many of which have come from the bench. Despite this, he has shown in recent weeks that he can still play a key role in a system that accommodates his lack of pace.
The Danish midfielder has expressed his gratitude to Manchester United for the opportunity to play for the club, but is now looking forward to a new challenge. With Ajax emerging as a potential destination, Eriksen’s future is set to be a major talking point in the coming weeks.
