Troops of the 82 Division Garrison under Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, working with the Department of State Services, DSS Enugu Command, have uncovered a suspected arms cache linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, in Enugu State.

Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lt. Col. Olabisi Ayeni, said the June 9, 2026 operation in Gariki, Enugu South LGA, followed credible intelligence from previously arrested suspects affiliated with the groups.

Security forces found a clandestine arms hideout concealed inside a zinc structure disguised as a piggery. Recovered items include General Purpose Machine Guns, an RPG-7 launcher tube, AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, a tear-gas gun with cartridges, AK-47 magazines, 270 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and 478 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

Ayeni said the operation reflects effective interagency collaboration and Operation UDO KA’s commitment to sustaining offensive actions against criminal and terrorist networks undermining peace in the South East. The recovered weapons and suspects have been handed over to DSS Enugu for further investigation and legal action.

He urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support efforts to achieve lasting peace and security in the region.
