Nigeria: Anambra 2025: APC aspirant Obiora Okonkwo vows to unseat Soludo

Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, has officially declared his intention to run for the Anambra State Governorship election on November 8, 2025, under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Okonkwo aims to take over from the current governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to make Anambra a beacon of excellence and good governance.

During the inauguration of his provisional campaign council, Okonkwo outlined his vision for a prosperous, secure, and globally competitive Anambra. He emphasized the need for a new direction, urging Ndi Anambra to unite behind a shared vision of economic transformation, security, and good governance.

Okonkwo’s agenda includes:

Tackling Insecurity Strengthened community policing and modern security frameworksEconomic GrowthCreating a business-friendly environment that attracts investment, empowers entrepreneurs, and generates employment.

Education and Youth Empowerment Institutionalizing “Nkwado Ogalanya (Igba Boi),” a model that equips young people with vocational and entrepreneurial skills.

Infrastructure Renewal Improved healthcare and modernization of agriculture to boost food security and wealth creation.

Okonkwo debunked claims that he is new to the APC, emphasizing his commitment to the party as a foundational member. He stressed that zoning is not a priority in Anambra politics, instead advocating for competence and leadership ability.
