GPF, Turkey concludes public order management training

The Gambia Police Force (GPF), in collaboration with Turkish trainers, successfully concluded a five-day intensive training on Public Order Management (POM) at the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) Headquarters in Kanifing. The training, which commenced on March 19, 2025, aimed at enhancing the capacity of PIU officers to effectively manage public order situations.

The end-of-training ceremony, held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, featured practical displays by the trainees, demonstrating lessons learned during the training. Certificates of completion were awarded to participants.

The event was graced by AIG Police Operations, Pateh Jallow, representing the Police Leadership, H.E. Turka Oba, the Turkish Ambassador, Commissioner of PIU, Adeline Basangeh, Commissioner of International Affairs, Famara Jobarteh, and other invited dignitaries.

Speaking on behalf of the Police Leadership, AIG Pateh Jallow commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to apply the skills acquired effectively. He also expressed gratitude to the Turkish Government for its continuous support and collaboration.

The Turkish Ambassador, H.E. Turka Oba, reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting The Gambia Police Force’s reform agenda and enhancing its operational capacity.

The GPF acknowledges the strong partnership between Turkey and The Gambia and looks forward to more collaborations aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities.
