GPF participates in AFRIPOL heads of training meeting in Cairo

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) was represented at the fifth meeting of AFRIPOL Heads of Training Departments held from 19th to 21st May 2025 at the Royal Garden Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, the police has announced.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Lamin Manka, Commandant of the Police Training School, joined his counterparts from African Union member states to discuss harmonized strategies for police training, capacity building, and regional security cooperation.
Organized by AFRIPOL, in partnership with the Egyptian Police Academy and supported by GIZ, the meeting focused on streamlining E-learning platforms and enhancing ownership of online training content across member states.
“Each country is expected to nominate an expert for the creation and management of online training materials,” it said.
It added: “participants also visited key Egyptian security installations, including the Police Academy, International Drug Control Centre and Special Forces Training Centre.”
“ACP Manka emphasized the importance of national commitment to security infrastructure with technical support from AFRIPOL and partners such as UNODC, CEPOL and GIZ.”
The press statement further said “the GPF remains committed to advancing training standards in line with international best practices.”
