Nigeria: Jenna Bush Hager shares rare multigenerational family photo

Jenna Bush Hager gave followers a glimpse of a quiet family moment this week, posting a rare multigenerational photo of the women in her family during a summer trip to Kennebunkport, Maine.

On August 24, the _Today_ co-host shared an Instagram carousel capturing the Bush family’s time at the family compound. The centerpiece was a group shot of six women: Jenna, her mother former First Lady Laura Bush, her twin sister Barbara Bush, her niece Cora, and her own daughters Mila, 13, and Poppy, 10.

Jenna paired the photos with lyrics from Taylor Swift’s 2020 song “august.” She wrote, “I can see us lost in the memory, August slipped away into a moment in time.

The first image showed all six women standing together outside. Jenna, 44, wore a green and white striped shirt with white jeans and white sandals. She had her arm around Mila, who was in a black dress and matching white sandals.

Poppy stood beside them in a pink printed dress, barefoot for the summer heat. Barbara and Cora also wore colorful, patterned sundresses.

Laura Bush, 79, who has been married to former President George W. Bush since 1977, kept it classic in a blue button-down shirt and off-white pants.

It’s not often that Jenna posts photos with her mother, sister, and daughters all together, which made the carousel stand out for fans who follow her family updates.

Along with the group photo, Jenna shared other snapshots from the vacation. There were pictures of Mila and Poppy enjoying the last days of summer running around, playing outside, and soaking up time at the Maine home. She also included a selfie with her husband, Henry Hager.

Jenna and Henry are also parents to son Hal, 6, who did not appear in the group shot but was part of the trip.

For Jenna, watching her children grow has been bittersweet. In May 2024, she spoke about it on _Today_.

“They’re starting to become really independent,” she said. “and they don’t need me as much. And I’m like, ‘OK, I did something right.'”

“My dad always says he could never have been as successful without knowing [my mom] had us,” Jenna said previously. “And so I hope I turn into her for my little kids.”

Jenna has spent much of her adult life in the public eye. As the daughter of a former president and as a longtime _Today_ host, her family is frequently the subject of interest. But she has worked to keep her home life relatively private.

The Bush compound in Kennebunkport has long been a place for family gatherings. It’s where the family spends summers together, away from Washington and New York. This year’s trip appears to have been focused on simple moments: group photos, time with grandchildren, and the end-of-summer lull before school starts.

The photo with Laura, Barbara, Cora, Mila and Poppy highlighted three generations of Bush women in one frame — something Jenna’s followers called “sweet” and “so special” in the comments.

On air, Jenna often talks about balancing work and family. She and Henry have three children: Mila, Poppy and Hal. In March 2025, she joked about having three kids.

“I’m pretty sure I’ve come to terms that three, even though it’s an imperfect number, it’s the perfect number for our household,” she said on _Today with Jenna & Friends_.

She’s also spoken about leaning on her mom for advice. Laura Bush raised Jenna and Barbara largely out of the spotlight during George W. Bush’s time as Texas governor and later as president. Now Jenna is raising her own kids while hosting a national morning show.

That parallel isn’t lost on her. Seeing her daughters alongside her mother and sister seemed to bring that full circle.

Choosing Taylor Swift’s “august” for the caption fit the mood of the post. The song is about nostalgia and fleeting summer moments — something Jenna said she felt watching her kids grow and watching her own family come together.

“August slipped away into a moment in time” felt like the right line for a trip that marked the end of summer vacation and the start of a new school year for Mila, Poppy and Hal.

The carousel didn’t include any big announcements or news. It was simply a record of time spent together. But for a family that has lived so much of its life in public, those quiet moments matter.

Jenna’s post came during a season when several of her _Today_ colleagues have also been sharing family updates.

Cohost Sheinelle Jones has three children with her late husband Uche Ojeh, who passed away in May 2025 after battling brain cancer. Craig Melvin often talks about his son Delano and daughter Sybil with wife Lindsay Czarniak. Hoda Kotb shares life with daughters Haley Joy and Hope Catherine. Lester Holt is now a grandfather to three boys and goes by “Granddude.”

The morning show has become known as much for its on-air chemistry as for the glimpses hosts give into their lives off camera. Jenna’s post was the latest in that tradition.

As August ends, the Bush family will head back to their regular routines. Mila and Poppy will return to school. Jenna will be back at 10 a.m. on _Today_.

But for one weekend in Kennebunkport, it was just six women, a camera, and a Taylor Swift lyric.

No speeches, no politics, no headlines — just a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a niece, and two daughters spending time together.
