The Eziobodo community, home to the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), was thrown into chaos on Wednesday night as hoodlums, suspected to be herdsmen, launched a violent attack, shooting one resident and leaving many others injured. The brazen assault was reportedly linked to a foiled abduction attempt, sending shockwaves through the community.

In the aftermath, residents fled their homes in panic, fearing further attacks. Authorities have sprung into action, with the Imo State Police Command intensifying security measures in the area. The Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, assuring citizens of their safety and deploying a Violent Crime Response Unit to enhance security.

This latest attack is part of a disturbing trend, following a similar incident three weeks ago where a motorcyclist was killed and his passenger abducted. The escalating violence has raised concerns about the safety of residents and the need for sustained security efforts.

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, has vowed to ensure the swift arrest of the perpetrators, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. As the situation remains fluid, residents are anxiously awaiting further updates and assurances of their safety.
