Who Killed the Cops, Mr. President?

By Madi Jobateh

This is a legitimate national question, and it must not fade. It must be asked, repeatedly and relentlessly, until the perpetrators are identified, arrested, and brought to justice.

Gambians have seen this before. When Deyda Hydara was murdered in 2004, the state dismissed his life and orchestrated a sham investigation built on lies and character assassination. For 14 years, the truth was buried until the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) finally exposed the killers.

But the people never stopped asking. Every day, The Point newspaper kept the question alive: Who Killed Deyda? And eventually the truth emerged.

Today, history is repeating itself.

We remind Adama Barrow and his government: Gambians will not be misled by contradictions, speculation, and false narratives. The court has spoken. The facts are clear. Yet the central question remains unanswered.

Who killed the cops?

Whether it takes 4 years, 14 years, or longer, the truth will come out. It always does.

And until it does, this question will not go away. Who Killed the Cops?
