Lamin K. Saidy, Presidential Advisor on Youth Affairs has called on Gambian young people to invest into agriculture.
Saidy made the remarks in a recent presentation of farming equipment to rural farmers in Pacharr, Central River Region South (CRR-S).
According to him, there is a greater need for the youth folk to invest in agriculture to enhance social development.
“The President Barrow administration is committed to supporting young people, most especially those who venture into farming,” he said.
He added that he is currently working closely with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security as well as other ministers to ensure the youth are supported to the core.
He appealed to the youth to end the irregular migration journey to Europe and contribute to the development of the country through farming and other meaningful sectors.
However, he admitted that several young people are now into agriculture, citing that some youth are into the rice and onion production sectors.
