Police receive citizen arrest over alleged baby dumping in Tallinding Farokono

The Police in Tallinding Farokono received a citizen arrest involving Isatou Jawneh, 25, of Farato, who was accused of attempting to dump a newborn baby. She was brought to the charge office by a crowd along with the infant.

Officers immediately escorted the baby to Kanifing General Hospital, where the child was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted being married but stated the pregnancy was from her boyfriend. Due to the large and uncontrollable crowd, she was transferred to Bundung Police Station for safe custody.

The deceased baby has been moved to the Banjul mortuary for preservation and possible postmortem.
