Nigeria: Why Akwa Ibom? Davido picks Nigeria’s first concert stop

Afrobeats sensation Davido chose Akwa Ibom State for his highly anticipated Nigerian concert, citing its world-class infrastructure and serene environment. Speaking at a pre-concert reception in Uyo, hosted by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Davido said Akwa Ibom topped a list of five African options.
A lot of people are flying from states without this facility. If others had similar infrastructure, I’d tour nationwide,” he added. The sold-out event at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium marks his first Nigerian live show in 14 years.
Called Eno “youth- and sports-friendly,” urging Davido to spotlight local talents internationally.
Adamawa (Oct 29), Enugu (Nov 1), Ibadan (Nov 9), Abuja (Dec 14), Lagos (Dec 25). Davido’s success in the U.S. inspired this homecoming. “This one’s for the culture,” he said.
