Two men have been arrested in connection with a violent attack on security personnel in Enugwu-Agu Village, Oba Ofemili, located in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident, which took place on April 13, 2025, involved an unprovoked assault on a joint team of police and military operatives at a checkpoint. During the attack, the suspects and their accomplices set an Army operational vehicle on fire.
Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday. He said the suspects, Uche Egwu (35) and Jindo Onyeka (32), were apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu on June 2 following an intensive investigation. The CP also directed the team to widen their search for the remaining suspects and called for stronger public support in protecting those tasked with defending the country.
