Nigeria: Trump slams door on Iran talks, says ‘too late’

US President Donald Trump has declared it’s “too late” for Iran to seek negotiations, claiming the country’s military leadership and key defense assets have been severely weakened in the ongoing conflict. “Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said ‘Too Late!'” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
This statement comes two days after Trump indicated openness to discussions, amid joint US-Israeli military operations against Iran. The conflict has entered its fourth day, with Iran launching retaliatory strikes on US bases and Israeli assets.
Trump’s stance signals a hardening of positions, with the US claiming significant damage to Iran’s military capabilities. Iran, however, has sent mixed signals on talks, with some officials expressing openness to negotiations “with dignity”.
