US President Donald Trump shared a satirical video on his Truth Social platform, showcasing a comedy skit where British Prime Minister Keir Starmer appears terrified at the prospect of speaking with Trump. The skit, aired on Saturday Night Live UK, features Starmer, played by George Fouracres, panicking inside 10 Downing Street, saying “What if Donald shouts at me?” When Trump picks up the phone, Starmer immediately hangs up, describing him as “that scary, scary, wonderful president”.
The skit references the strained relationship between Trump and Starmer, particularly over the Iran war and the UK’s limited support for US efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has repeatedly criticized Starmer, saying “This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with” and expressing disappointment over Starmer’s initial refusal to let US warplanes use UK bases to strike Iran.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has attempted to ease tensions, stating that nations will “come together” to secure the Strait of Hormuz, despite Trump’s frustration with allies.
