Nigerian Army troops have stopped an armed robbery attempt along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway after responding swiftly to a distress call during a routine patrol.

The incident occurred around the Nasarawan Doka area, where soldiers moved in quickly after receiving reports of an ongoing attack on motorists. On arrival, the troops engaged the criminals and successfully disrupted the robbery.

One suspect, identified as Kabiru Zayyanu, was arrested during the operation after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. He was immediately taken to Doka General Hospital, where he received medical attention. Other members of the gang managed to escape the scene.

Following the encounter, troops launched a pursuit of the fleeing suspects but made no further contact. No deaths, injuries to civilians, or abductions were recorded during the operation.

Security personnel said the arrested suspect will be handed over to the appropriate authorities after investigations are concluded. Troops have continued patrols in the area to maintain a strong security presence and reassure road users.

The army has urged members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities, reiterating its commitment to protecting lives and property across the region.
