A self-acclaimed activist, Scott Iguma, has been remanded in custody after being arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos on charges of cyberbullying and cyberstalkin. Iguma, who has over one million followers on Instagram, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.

Iguma allegedly posted unverified and defamatory statements against the founder of PWAN Group, Dr. Augustine Onwumere, describing him as a “criminal” operating a “fraudulent business.”

He also warned the public against dealing with PWAN, stating that if anything happened to him or his family, PWAN should be held responsible.

The prosecution claimed that Iguma’s posts were knowingly false and had gone viral, drawing wide circulation and engagement.

The police prosecution counsel, Augustine Nwabuisi, told the court that Iguma’s actions contravened Section 24(1)(b) and are punishable under Section 24(2)(ii) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act (As Amended) 2025

Justice Friday Ogazi ordered that Iguma be remanded in the custody of the correctional centre pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.

PWAN Homes has denied any involvement in Iguma’s arrest and detention, calling the claims “false, malicious, and deeply misleading.”

The company stated that it had chosen a path of professionalism despite Iguma’s sustained smear campaign and had extended multiple invitations to him for peaceful dialogue, which he declined.
