Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were knocked out of the French Cup by city rivals Paris FC, with former academy player Jonathan Ikone scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 defeat at the Parc des Princes. Ikone, who came on as a substitute, scored in the final 20 minutes, securing Paris FC’s place in the last 16.
The match saw PSG dominate the first half, but Paris FC’s defense held strong. Mamadou Sakho, a former PSG captain, announced his retirement before kick-off. PSG’s loss marked their first home defeat in the competition since 2022 and their first last-32 defeat since 2014.
Ikone expressed his joy, saying, “I’m really happy with my goal, just a joy, and I hope it’s not my last goal”. Paris FC, backed by LVMH and Red Bull, are currently 15th in Ligue 1, two points above Nantes in the relegation play-off spot.
