A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has died after being knocked down and run over by an operational patrol vehicle during a simulation exercise in Abuja.
The incident occurred during a coordinated show-of-force drill, and footage circulating on social media captured the moment the officer was struck by the vehicle as it made a turn.
According to NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale, the officer was immediately evacuated to a hospital but was pronounced dead despite efforts to save her life.
“The NSCDC has immediately activated internal processes following the tragedy,” Babawale said, adding that senior officers would visit the deceased officer’s residence to pay condolences.
A detailed official statement is expected to be released soon, outlining the circumstances and measures being taken by the agency.
