A film director, Amaka Ojo, has emphasized the need for improved storytelling, advanced cinematography, and professional sound design to enhance Nollywood’s global competitiveness.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Ojo stressed that these elements are essential for market competitiveness and would attract additional foreign partnerships.
“Investors are showing greater interest in structured projects with defined distribution strategies,” she said. “Nollywood producers are increasingly prioritising cinema-grade productions as audience expectations rise in the streaming era.”
Ojo noted that collaboration with international streaming platforms has elevated technical standards across the industry, adding that viewers now compare local productions with global content, making quality a necessity.
However, she highlighted that access to funding and technical training remain critical to sustaining the momentum.
